Book Review of Barefoot Summer by Denise Hunter

Disclaimer:  I received a complimentary copy of Barefoot Summer from Book Sneeze for this review.  I was not required to write a positive review, all opinions and thoughts are my own.

If you are on the lookout for a great fun summer read, Barefoot Summer by Denise Hunter is an absolutely perfect choice! This is one of those books I picked up and had a hard time putting down. The characters are both likable and lovable. Denise's scenery descriptions in which the book takes place are vivid and imaginable.
They had me wishing I had a sailboat of my own that I could take out and relax to the waves as the breeze blew through my hair.

Madison lost her twin brother Michael several years back. She is still trying to overcome the memories that haunt her. Filling her life with a busy schedule and a job at a veterinary clinic. She comes to the decision that to rid the nightmares she must fulfill her lost twins dreams for him. Entering the sailboat Regatta race and winning it for her brother. Madison only has a few problems, she's never sailed a boat before, her brothers boat isn't even in working condition and she hasn't a clue on exactly where to start fixing it. To top it off, she can't even swim.

Deciding that her best option is to win an auction bid of a local sail mate who's auctioning off the partnership and training for a local charity cause. The only problem, she gets pawned off and her training instructor becomes a man with a bad reputation and the one man in town she can't stand to be around, Beckett O'Reilly. With no other options and a need to fulfill her brothers dream she decides Beckett is her only choice.

As friendships begin and a budding romance emerges the nightly nightmares increase, she feels she's never been closer to overcoming her problems and never so far away at the same time. Beckett who is turning out to be nothing of what she thought, has a  dark secret of his own that he has been hiding from her, one directly related to her past. Will his secrets destroy everything they have been building? Or will love find a way to overcome the past? Well you will just have to read Barefoot Summer to find out!

This is one of those books, your just going to want to go lay out under a shade tree by a lake or river and relax and enjoy.  If your anything like me, you'll find yourself smiling throughout and turning the pages as fast as your eyes can read.  I highly recommend Barefoot Summer by Denise Hunter to any reader who enjoys a clean fun romance.

My Favorite Children's Books of This Year

Okay, so this will sound funny, but I love reading children's books:)  I work a second job in a library, and well when its slow I like to pick up kids books to read.  One because they are fun, but also because they are a quicker read in case a patron comes up:)  Then there is the fact that I love reading them to my nieces and nephews!  So I decided I'd post some of my favorite children's reads of this year.

Fancy Nancy books have to be my favorite kids books out right now.  They are fun, and for any age 2 on up, but mostly girls will love these.  They are also fun to read to kids you'll love the Fancy Talk feel of these adorable books.  Additionally there are dozens of different ones to choose from, I haven't found one yet I didn't like!
Fancy Nancy books are by Jane O'Connor

Earth to Clunk, this is a fun read likely any child would laugh at the fun storyline, but I think especially little boys will find this one funny!  This one is one of my favorites as far as new books to the market this year!  Earth to Clunk is written by Pam Smallcomb

Younger school age kids will love this book, this one put smiles on my face as I read it.  Boys and girls ages 3 and up, are probably the best target range.  Substitute Creacher is by Chris Gall

This is one of those books that have a really cute message behind it.  I can see why it has won awards.  Boys and girls 2 and up will enjoy having this story read to them!  Sylvester and the Magic Pebble is by William Steig

The Hair of Zoe Fleefenbacher Goes to School by Laurie Halse Anderson.  Fun read for younger school age kids!

This is one of those books that I wasn't sure about when I started, but really loved that I took the time to pick it up.  Very cute story, boys and girls ages 2 and up will love this one!  Children Make Terrible Pets is by Peter Brown.

Another great fun read!  The Wacky Substitute by Sally Derby
Likely younger school age kids will love this the most, but it could be fun for any age!

The Librarian from the Black Lagoon by Mike Thaler, another fun read that will make kids laugh!

I really thought this one is cute!  Where's the Dragon?  By Jason Hook
This is a great bedtime read for kids!

Another fun bedtime read, No Jumping On The Bed by Tedd Arnold, just a fun cute story ages 2 and up will love!

Sheila Rae, The Brave by Kevin Henkes, this is an adorable little story.  Fun bedtime or anytime read, kids ages 2 and up will love.  It also has a cute meaningful message in the story, which is always good!

I could give you another dozen, but this will have to be enough for now!  Whether you collect kids books or just love to check out cute great books at a library to read to your kids.  These are a great bunch that if you are like me at all, you'll love them!  The great thing about an adult loving a kids book, is it will be even more fun for you to read them to your own kids or like me your nieces and nephews!
Enjoy your summer reading!!!
