Breaking All My Rules

I almost made it an entire year, without messing up any of my blogging goals this year.  Of course with only 1 month to go, I blow it for like 3 weeks straight.
If you are a regular follower of mine, you likely noticed my huge absence the past three weeks.

Without going into it too much detail, I hurt my back really bad.  Then I caught the 72 hour flu, right after that an upper respiratory cold, and a couple of days ago caught yet another cold.

So obviously, I don't have much on the exciting news front to report.  Although last night, my pothead neighbor provided me with a little excitement  (well technically he is just staying with my real neighbors).  I doubt I ever mentioned pothead before, but lately he has been quite obvious with his drug deals right out in front of my house.  People would pull up to the side of his house and double honk, and he would come running out to meet them.

(On a side note, can I just say most the people who came were surprisingly normal looking, with nice cars. Just goes to show you just never can know people, even the clean cut ones can have drug issues!)

Well, of course I provided my own amusement at his expense. Often when I would come home late, I would do a quick stop honk twice before driving around the neighborhood coming in a different direction (so he wouldn't know it was me).  Truthfully, I only started doing it when it got cold out. When it was snowing or raining, was always a plus! The thought of him running out freezing to or to get cold and wet and arrive at no drug/money exchange, oddly amuses me, LOL
Let's be honest, just thinking about all the times I did it now has me laughing.

Well guess his supplier (my guess) may have caught up to him not paying and pothead gets himself shot last night as he was leaving his house (he's apparently going to be fine). So ya, that provided some interesting window watching late last night.  I feel bad for my one neighbor their garage is all shot up, from the stay bullet holes but other than that thankfully no one innocent was hurt.
Despite what you are currently thinking, I actually live in a really great neighborhood, minus a few, and that is one of the few.  On the plus side, the kid would be stupid to ever come home, so I think he will no longer be a problem, yay!

Although, I did have to suck it up and push the illness aside and get ready for a Harry Potter Yule Ball, that I decorated for on Friday. (Ya, oddly lots of adults love to get dressed up to go to these things, 750 to be exact... crazy how many "geeks" as they call themselves (their words) are out there.)
But all in all, it went okay and looked really nice when we were done. I also tried out a new crew member and she was fabulous, pretty excited about using her in the future!
The above picture was one of the backdrops we did at one end of the ballroom, I love how it turned out! I will have pictures of the rest, I'll share another time. One of the photographers there loved it so much they took some professional ones for me of it, and will send them later this week, so sweet of them!

I should mention I did very little lifting and carrying things at this event to save whats left of my back.  My dad literally had to sit me down beforehand and say, you pay your people to help you at these events, let them do all the hard work and lifting, don't you dare. Don't ask why but I am so not easily able to not do the hard work to, but I did manage to resist. Of course it was mostly because I literally lift a few too many things and I am crying in excruciating pain and can no longer move, so that helped me make them do most of it for me. I just did the fun parts lol.

I have finally gotten back into reading again, and am enjoying a good book right now.  Think I'll even throw a review up later this week, maybe even offer another giveaway as well.

I am a several weeks now addicted to the Vampire Diaries (did I ever tell you that?) So my friend Rebecca over at Press On and Run (She doesn't even know this.) is to blame for my addiction.
About a month or so ago she was raving about a show called The Originals on her blog.  I happened to have nothing to do that night so thought I'd check it out, but first a show called Vampire Diaries came on, and it looked great so I went on Netflix and decided to watch the first episode while I waited for The Originals to come on.
Well short version, never saw The Originals, I became addicted to Vampire Diaries and a few nights a week before I go to bed, I enjoy catching an episode even if I can't get to it until near midnight, LOL. Good news is, there is lots of seasons, bad news is there is lots of seasons. But I am absolutely addicted, and oh ya if Vampires looked like Damon (pic below) on the show, I'd totally want me one of them... so hot!!!

Ya, so that is literally and sadly how my past few weeks have gone... a whole lot of nothing but being sick in bed mostly, and wondering why my back refuses to get any better on it's own. (Dr. visit is coming, just as soon as I am in the mood (over these colds) to make the appt.)
I don't even want to begin to think how even more out of shape this has all made me... but I am sure one day it will hit me.

On a side note, I haven't even started Christmas shopping, or sending out Christmas cards. I am terribly behind, and have lots and lots to catch up on this week.  Not to mention a butt load of linen laundry from Friday's event that I have put off all weekend...

Are you ready for Christmas or behind like me?
Have you ever had to break all your blogging goals, because life gets in the way? (I should feel guilty about it, but I don't. Terrible, I know!)

I am linking up with HoHo Runs and Mississippididdlin today for their Weekly Wrap!

  1. haha!!!! I have to say, I'm glad I got you hooked. So yeah, I've always been - always will be #TeamDamon ... for obvious reasons :) Not to mention, in real life, he is a HUGE animal activist. I cant get enough of both shows... I just saw TVD is moving to Friday's now & its messing my world up... ugh!

Sorry you had such a bad go of things recently. I DESPISE being sick... and back pain... so it all sounds like misery to me. But its all behind you - better days to come - right? :)

  2. Wow - that is major neighbor excitement! I, too, chuckled reading about your little horn honking trick. But the shooting sounds pretty scary! I'm glad you weren't injured in the incident.

A Harry Potter Yule Ball sounds like a fun idea! Although as an adult I'd probably be embarassed to admit I was attending one :)

  3. I wouldn't feel sorry for the neighbors since they let him stay there, but I'm tough. So sorry to hear about your back and colds. I got sick last year, first with a cold, then the flu, so I'm trying so terribly hard to not get sick this year.

  4. I am so sorry to hear you hurt your back and got sick. It looks like you still pulled off a great event with pretty decorations, it was nice of Dad to help you out. Sweet :)
Your neighbor sounds a bit crazy lol good grief...
I did get my secret blogger gift done :) eveything else, not so much...

  5. Oh my, that sounds like a lot of drama in your neighborhood! I'm glad that hopefully it will ease up now. I haven't checked out the Vampire Diaries yet but I keep hearing about it so I think I'm going to have to add it to my list.

  6. Yup, all you had to do was rave about The Originals it was enough to grab my interest, still haven't watched any of those, but now I know it's a spin off, so I assume eventually I will want to get into that one too:)
My sister watches TVD and I was telling her, just wait now that I am hooked they will cancel the show, hope that is not what the move to Friday's is. I mean I am still on the earlier seasons it will be a while until I am on the current season, but still I'd like it to be around a while! So ya, thanks for getting me hooked, LOL

  7. You know whats funny, the Harry Potter Ball was for adults only, no kids allowed, so I guess that helped them all be okay with it together, LOL
Some of them would dress up in fancy beautiful gowns, and others went with more of a themed look, not my thing but it looked like they were all having a great time!
Ya, the neighbor thing was crazy, but I saw it coming a few weeks ago. Sounds bad, but when you live that kind of life, it's not like you can expect much else. I am just glad we are all probably rid of him.

  8. I don't feel sorry for the neighbors that let him live there. But it was my other neighbors garage that got shot up a few houses down, so they had nothing to do with it. But I am sure they will get it all fixed up in the coming weeks.
Hope you don't get sick! I told my sister the other day, I have had my fill for the entire winter, so this must mean I am done with being sick til spring, LOL

  9. My dad and even my mom are awesome. They did come help my take down crew that night, but I did take his advice and I am glad I did, I made the others I pay to help do the work so I could save my back a little:)
The neighbor is a pothead, and thankfully I think we are rid of him, Merry Christmas to me:)
You are a step ahead of me on the secret blogger done, I am hoping to get mine sent out today/tomorrow.

  10. Ya, the Pothead kid was a loser, and its kind of an early Christmas present that we are probably rid of him, I don't think his Grandparents will let him come back, and he'd be an idiot to do so. I think the whole neighborhood is kinda glad he will be gone:)
Oh it's great, for years people have tried to get me into Vampire Diaries and I would just tell them, I didn't have time and it probably wasn't my think. Apparently I was wrong, I can't get enough of it, LOL Wish I had more time to get all caught up and onto the current season, but probably won't happen for a while:)

  11. Yikes, that's a rough few weeks! Hopefully you're back up to 100% ASAP. We used to have drug dealers living across from us but thankfully they moved so we don't have to deal with it anymore. The Vampire Diaries is a great show! I got all caught up earlier this year and was waiting for new episodes to come out on Netflix. Looks like I have more to watch!

  12. Whew, that's an update! I thought you where wore out from all the blog hops! You have some serious window watching to do! Do any of us really know what goes on next door? Rest up & feel better! Thanks again for having me as co-hostess I loved it!

  13. Sorry if it's inappropriate to laugh but that pothead situation is funny. You're living on the set of Weeds! Hopefully, it means he's out of the business and your neighborhood can go back to being normal.
Be safe! Glad you're back to the blog. You were missed around these parts. I made a lot of new friends this year because of you but it wouldn't be the same if you're not here to participate in the blog-love :-)

  14. PS. I just bought my Christmas cards today so I'll be sending mine out tomorrow, I hope. I think I still have time. That's what I keep telling myself.

  15. Its been difficult for me to keep up with my regular blogging schedule as well. Life has a way of throwing us a lot of curve balls, and part of what makes us who we are is how we adjust. Make sure you put yourself first and take care of you. Your readers will be here ready with open arms with things get a little more back to normal.

  16. hahahaha, I'm so glad I'm not the only one addicted to Vampire Diaries. (I'm super super behind, but still.) I blame my friend--I went to visit him (yes, him) for Thanksgiving back in 2012 and we spent the weekend watching X-men cartoons, Grimm, Vampire Diaries, and playing Diablo II. :P I still need to get on board with The Originals!

I think not feeling guilty about not blogging is a good thing! This blog is, first and foremost, for you! You can do what you want, and take the time that you need! I hope you feel better soon! <3

  17. OMG - your neighbor! That's way too much excitement for me! At least now maybe things will be quiet next door. I hate your back is bothering you and you've been sick. I hope 2016 brings you a bucket load of health, a turn toward the things you want to do, and a boat full of luck! I think you've paid your dues. I can't wait to see the picture of the Harry Potter ball. My kids consider themselves geeks too. I think it's popular now? IDK. Thanks for linking with us today, Kristy!

  18. Here I was waiting for some great story about how you smoke with the neighbors and it healed your back or something LOL. I really hope you are starting to feel better this week.

  19. I'm glad you don't feel guilty for not blogging cuz life happens. I hope your back is hanging in there. Too funny but scary too about your pothead neighbor. I'd be totally keeping watch too! Ha!

  20. Thanks Jen!
Ya another Vampire diaries fan:) I have a long ways before I am caught up, but thats okay. Just means more fun in doing so, right lol.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Lol, ya I wish it was just worn out from the hops:) Thanks for co hosting with me, it was a great hop!!!
But I agree, never know what really goes on in a neighbor, right!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Its definitely very much okay to laugh. I totally enjoyed messing with the kid and even if it makes me a bad person I kinda think if your a dealer then getting shot is probably something thats expected eventually.
But that's sweet of you to say, I have missed it especially the fun interaction with other bloggers:)
Oh and I say tomorrow is fine to send them I have met dine and they are going out tomorrow too:) Better later than never :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I agree with ya, sometimes we do need to put ourselves first and let the blogging lag a little :) I just wish I hadn't of had to let it take as much of a back seat as I did. But such is life right. lots of curve balls as you perfectly put it!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Lol awesome another VD fan:) I haven't started the Originals either but I can totally see it happening :)
Love that you had a weekend tv splurge with your friend in 2012. I could totally see myself doing that with a good friend sometime!!!

  25. Wow, you have had some excitement! Stay safe my friend

  26. Just testing for you.

  27. Oh no. So sorry to hear about your back and also being sick. I was sick last week and it was no fun at all. Sounds like craziness with your neighbor. Good you don't feel bad about the blog, we all need our breaks. Feel better soon!

Oh no I so hate you were sick and down in your back! Boo! That is funny about the Vampire Diaries show, had you ever heard of it before? I started watching it after the first season. We don't pay to have cable so I did not get it when it first came out but I watched, not scratch that, I drooled at Damon on the show for several seasons, lol. I believe I did hear you mention your neighbor and his ummm problems. Glad it didn't turn out any worse and maybe he won't be coming back around. That is scary stuff! Glad your back, Kristy!

  29. Twas the laziest weekend + the most basement-dwelling (although it wasn't really a basement) I'd ever done, hahaha. :D It was a lot of fun though! His neighbor may or may not have made him two homemade apple pies, so we each finished off one...

    ReplyDelete
  30. Aww so sorry to hear about your back and being sick!! I've had "the crud" recently and it's just no fun. I'm still giggling about pothead neighbor! Haha!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Thanks Rachel! I hope you get feeling better to, being sick I agree is definitely no fun!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks, I hope so too!
Yes, that is exactly what I thought. That was until last night they brought him back home? Seriously, I now I have no choice I am going to have to figure out a way to turn him in without getting myself involved. Because I seriously don't want him to know I had anything to do with it. No worries on the guy seeing my blog, he doesn't even know anything about me, LOL
Oh, and apparently the geek thing is totally popular now, LOL

    ReplyDelete
  33. LOL LOL you know if it would actually help cure my back problems, I would start smoking it in a heartbeat, LOL I should be kidding about that, but I am in too much pain not to:) Thankfully it doesn't so no risk at me becoming a pothead, LOL

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ya, it was pretty funny!
    Thanks Marcia!!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Thanks, I am not sure what is going on with my back, but a Dr. Appt looks inevitable! Oh, no I hope you are completely over your cold, no fun to be sick, not one bit!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. My sister had tried to get me to watch Vampire Diaries a while back, I told her at the time it likely wasn't my thing. I even had a co-worker once who told me I would love it and I distinctly remember telling her she watches too much TV, and its probably not my thing, LOL Apparently I had to eat my words, it was SO MY THING, LOL
Oh, I totally drool over Damon, his is just perfectly beautiful! In fact I was joking with my friend the other day, now that Paul Walker (RIP) is gone, it's high time I replace him with what I like to call "My most unobtainable crush" and ya Damon took the spot, LOL LOL
Ya, the neighbor thing, I thought it was all solved, but the Pothead showed back up last night. I hate to have to take matters into my own hands to get rid of him (turn him in) but I think I am going to have to. I just need to do it in a way that it will never come back at me or have my name down as the one who turned him in, that kind of stuff is just too risky... sadly!

    ReplyDelete
  37. That is so crazy about your neighbor! I laughed at how you would honk in bad weather, making him come out! I'm glad he will no longer be there.
Your deco for the ball is just stunning. You are so creative! Sorry to hear about your back again. :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. That is horrible he got shot! :( Very scary. I'm glad he is going to be okay and glad no one else was hurt.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh ya, I mean if he's going to be an idiot selling drugs he deserves to have to run out in the freezing weather for nothing a few times, LOL
Thanks, we did have a fun time decorating for the ball!

  40. I wasn't happy about the shots being fired in the neighborhood, but I know this will sound bad, but I don't feel bad for him. He's just asking for problems with all the bad stuff he's into, I just hope it stays away from the neighborhood now and VERY glad no one else was hurt!
