Got That Great Feeling, Life is Totally Awesome

I'm in all sorts of happiness because I haven't caught a new cold in 3 weeks and I feel like I am starting to get a handle on my Epstein Barr. Granted I still could sleep for hours on end. But you know when you feel great, it just makes everything else that happens in life great. Well ya that is where I am right now.

RUNNING

I've even finally gotten back into running, all the time off these past few months of being sick put me in terrible shape and its been tough. But I'm sort of down to crunch time, I literally don't have enough time to train for the fall marathon I registered for but I have that voice in the back of my head that says; what will it hurt to try it anyway.

Which has made for an interesting leap back into running. That switch in the back of my mind that occasionally of late has gone on to the wimpy side that says, don't push it. Well that switch has been off and my mind is in a push it mode and feed on the pain. (You know the good pain of running again and the burn in your lungs.)

Doesn't matter if it's 96 or 103 degrees and the sun is beating down and no shade in sight for miles, my mind still is in the go for it. I'm finding I'm liking it and actually enjoying the push through the pain and heat better than I liked the cooler temps earlier in the year.

Of course in heat like that, I do have to take certain precautions. So I hydrate well both all day leading up to it and well after the run.
I don't bring water on my runs for up to 8 miles, since it's not really needed when I am hydrated properly to begin with.

But there was one 101 degree day last week and a 5 mile run, I hadn't drank as much water as I normally do during a day, by mile 4 I was like chalk mouth couldn't wait to finish up that next mile and get home for a drink, But lesson learned I won't make that mistake again!

BAD BLOGGER

If there was a Bad Blogger Award, I would totally nominate myself.
I currently am working 10-14 hour days and if I add an hour run into my day I literally have zero time left to do anything but sleep on the week days.
Which is the reason, you've still seen very little of me.

Weekends I don't work, but having a life and being outdoors experiencing the beauty of the outdoors, is yes a higher priority to me than blogging. So yes, it was a choice I made to cut back to once a week right now.

I wish I could comment on blogs at my job. I read many of your blogs each day, because I have lots of time between patients at times to catch up on all your blogs. But blogging and and stuff like that is a big no no, because the computers could be used by anyone who works there and well I am not into breaking the rules.

I have been doing lots of hiking, and I've come across some nearby places that are just stunning and as I have been on a little quest this summer to take hikes into areas I've never been before. (Yes I did that last summer too.) It's just been awesome. I'll share some of the adventures in upcoming travel Tuesday posts.

Saw this big beauty on a hike over the weekend.

LAST

My life is about to have some huge changes. I mentioned earlier this year (if any of you remember) that I was working on heading into entirely different direction.
Well, it's been on again off again and as of this week all those changes have just become a reality. My life is soon to forever change (for the better) and I am about to embark on an incredible and entirely different path and go after a goal that I have always wanted to achieve.
I need a little time, I'd like to write a nice post to explain it all. I will try really hard to find some time this week to do it so I can share it with you all next week.

Oh and thanks to my sister who got a little depressed and went on a $3,000 shopping spree. (Her husband decided not to kill her because she bought fun toys, LOL) She bought a couple of kayaks, 6 SUP paddleboards and a ton of other outdoor stuff. So some of the family bought a few off her and now we have a seriously fun combined group of lake toys. So yeah, we are having lots of great family times cooling off in the lakes these days. I have learned my max is myself and 2 kids on a paddleboard, anymore and I can't keep us upright, LOL So lots and lots of fun and great ways to cool off in the hot summer temps!

I am linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin today for their Weekly Wrap!

  2. Glad to see you here! I was starting to get worried! Your lake looks lovely!
So what will you do about this marathon? Do you think you will run it?

  4. Thanks goodness you are back to feeling like yourself. Training for a marathon is always tough and I have been in a bit of a funk training for my fall marathon. Maybe we can encourage each other??

  5. Yayyyyy! I'm glad things are looking up for you! :D!! Go immune system, go!! That's awesome that you're back to running again and you have wayyy more resolve than me, haha. I tried running in hot/humid weather once and felt like I would die, so I don't really do that anymore. ._.

I totally feel ya on the 10-14 hour days! (Mine are about 13 these days.) I don't have an entirely free weekend til mid-December, but such is the life of an intern. (What doesn't kill me makes me stronger?)

I think having a life is definitely more important too, so I'm glad you're getting that in! :D I'm happy that you get to be doing lots of hiking because it means I can live vicariously through you! :P

...and I really want a kayak and paddleboard. If I'd made it into my 3rd-choice (I think it was my 3rd choice) residency, I would've gotten a paddleboard because that program was right by the beach! :P

I'm ending this essay now. <3

  7. I'm so going to use that shopping spree as an example to my husband - "At least I didn't spend $3000" ;) haha
Glad you're immune system is getting a boost & staying cold free!!!

  8. So glad you're running again. I think you could totally still do the marathon. May not be your fastest, but I know you could still do it! Those lake toys look like so much fun. I want to try paddle boarding sometime!

  12. I'm glad to hear things are going well for you - with your health, running, work and general life happiness! With running, I love it when you feel like pushing more . It's a great feeling and I believe a sign that you're getting more fit. Looking forward to reading the upcoming travel posts and seeing all the gorgeous pics!

  13. Thanks Chaitali!

  14. Thanks Meranda! Life has just been super hectic, I just can't keep up with everything so yeah I had to let the blogging slide even if it sort of broke all my goals I ever had with it. At least for now.
Well, I am a firm believer in the impossible being something that is just for other people, LOL so yeah I am going to push myself and see what happens. As to if I will run it, well guess we will see where I am in 4 weeks. I refuse to run it if I can't get in at least 3 18 milers, and even that I cringe at because I would like to have more under the belt, but there is no time. But oddly I think if I don't get sick again, I am pretty sure I can push the body, I've always been pretty good at building distance, my biggest problem is I have a lot of weight I want to loose over the next two months too, now that is probably going to be the hard part, LOL

  15. Thanks Michelle! Yes I am very much excited about what is coming up in my future!

  16. Thank you Pam!
Your on, I need all the encouragement I can get and I'll definitely share some encouragement your way too!
We can do this for sure!!!

  17. Love your essay:)
Humidity I think is a bit worse than heat. But today feels like an oven it's 104 and I'm hoping in the next 40 minutes it cools to 100 LOL Wishful thinking I am sure, oh well...

Yeah, long work days take so much out of ya. But you manage it well, you still blog very regularly. I haven't been able to pull it, I should blame it on the Epstein but I will, because I just need more sleep right now, :)
But yes, having a life is more important, I am just not a gal who can sit indoors during the summer, I gotta play hard and lots! Afterall, what would be the point of working hard if it wasn't so we could play harder right!

  18. Thanks Julie!
I've been working on the post, I really hope to share it all with you Monday!

  19. You totally should, LOL LOL
When she called me and told me how much she spent, my jaw just dropped to the floor. Then when I asked what she bought I was just like SWEET I can play, LOL LOL I'll be having a lot of fun this week at her expense, LOL LOL literally speaking, LOL

  20. I am going to push it and see if I can make it happen, I mean why not. The worst that could happen is I don't quite make it, but at least I tried, LOL
But your right it won't be my best, I have so much weight to loose right now, literally need to drop 40 pounds in the next 2 months to feel more comfortable about it, and yeah oddly I think going from 7 miles to 26.2 in 2 months is far more likely than dropping even half that weight... But I will try!
Oh you must try SUP it is so much fun!!!

  21. Thanks Deborah! I'm definitely going to enjoy and spend a lot of time playing with those toys this week, so life will just be great, LOL

  23. Thanks Michelle!
Yeah, I think we all go through the bad blogger moments at times!

  24. Thanks Sun!
I really wish I could agree with you on the sign I might be getting more fit, seriously I am so nothing even close to it. But eventually it will come! Right now I think it's just my mind feeding off the impossible and pushing myself with the self competition even though I still feel totally out of shape, LOL.

  25. No need to apologize for the lack of blogging. You need to focus on you, your job, and enjoying life. Blogging can wait. :)

  26. I'm so glad you are feeling better! It's hard to blog in the summer when you want to be outside having fun! No shame. I don't want to be in front of a computer screen? (You can see how late I am reading the links this week! LOL). Your sister went on my kind of shopping spree. How fun to have all the lake toys at your disposal. Does your fall marathon have a gracious cut-off time? Maybe you could run/walk it if you needed to. I'm very excited to hear about your new plans. Thanks for linking, Kristy.
