Diet To Go Meals in Review

For those of you who read my blog, you've probably recently noticed I had gotten myself into bit of a fitness slump, and really needed something to jump start me back into life in the way I want it to be.

Barbecue Chicken, Anise Roasted Potatoes, Baked Beans & Green Beans
Dinner - Traditional Plan

That jump start opportunity came in the mail in the form of a large cooler filled with delicious Diet-to-Go meals.  I wish I could tell you that on my own I have been able to always eat healthy and make nutritious meals.  But the truth is, lately when it was left up to me I wasn't exactly eating as I should have been and I had been eating out at restaurants way too often.
Thrilled with this opportunity, I wasn't going to let it pass so I jumped on it!!

Chicken Philly Sub with Honey Mustard & Mayo - Peach Pudding
Lunch - Traditional plan

Here's is my favorite thing in my opinion about the Diet-To-Go meals, they are pre-calorie counted and they are HUGE.  In fact, generally lunch and dinners were more than I could eat in one meal.  Which is awesome, because I never felt hungry.  Additionally, they actually taste good, delicious in fact.  They aren't like other diet brands I have tried in the past, where you have to sacrifice on taste, these gourmet meals really honestly DO taste great!
Whether you want Low Fat, Low Carb or Vegetarian they have meal plans designed specifically for you!

Mushroom Strata with Chicken Sausage and a V8

This is actually my 3rd week trying out their meals, and each time I have ordered the Traditional Low Fat Menu.  Their menu's are so large, that I haven't eaten the same meal in any of the 3 weeks I tried the meals.  I find that to be pretty cool!  Diet-to-Go also provides full weight loss support, you can contact them directly with any questions or concerns or help you may need in your dietary needs.

I'm a busy person, I'm a wedding planner, and I also have a 2nd job.  You throw in a personal life, and it doesn't leave a ton of time to make and cook meals, which is another fabulous reason I liked the fresh pre-made Diet-To-Go meals.  I'd just select the night before what I planned to eat the next day, and take those meals from the freezer and place into the fridge.  Some required short heating as preparation, others did not.  The longest meal preparation, one took me 5 minutes of cooking time and I let it cooled for a couple of minutes before eating.  Easy peasy, and it all tastes like a home cooked meal (sometimes better).

Chicken Breast Tenders with Pasta & Vegetables in sauce - Bread sticks
Lunch - Traditional Plan

If your not familiar with Diet-to-Go, let me tell you how simple it is.  You just go online, select the meals you would like and then they are shipped to your door in a large cooler.  Fresh and ready for you to begin eating.  At anytime, you can go online and change what meals you are getting to try out their other meal plan options.  If you have allergies, or other dietary issues, just contact them directly and they will work with you to get you exactly what you need.

They are seriously a great company and I highly recommend them!
If you're not into trying a new diet out now, definitely keep them in mind for your New Years Resolution Diets, you will for sure see success if you do!!!!

Diet-To-Go Review

Motivational Monday Blog Link-Up
(You can link up your own blog post at the end of mine.)

I have been excited to share with all of you my review on Diet-To-Go.  You may know I am a Diet-To-Go Ambassador.  Let me first tell you a little of why I decided to join Diet-To-Go.  They are all about creating healthy living, by healthy eating.
To lose weight you have to insert both diet and exercise into your life.  It's not easy, in fact it can be darn right hard at times (this I know)!  For me I used to look at celebrities and think to myself, now if I only had my own personal chef that could make food I actually enjoyed.  Then I'd be able to turn regular dieting into an all around healthy lifestyle change and look as good as some of them do.

Well that is what Diet-To-Go is, it's your own personal chef.  They send the fresh meals to you weekly.  So it is completely easy and hassle free!  You sign up, and ask for the type of foods/diet you would like to be on.  You can be picky and leave out certain things, so when you get your meals they are food you will love to eat.  How easy is that?  It's seriously is just like having your own personal chef!

This past week I have been enjoying some delicious dishes.  This isn't my first time trying out Diet-To-Go meals.  I have to tell you I was pleasantly surprised to discover that their menu is even more vast than I previously thought!  I didn't have a single meal to eat that was the same as any of the many meals I have tried in the past.  They have three meal plans to choose from: Traditional, Vegetarian and Low Carb.  Each meal plan has 5 weeks of meal rotations, so as you can see a very vast selection of meals!

I chose the Traditional Low-Fat Diet Meal Plan to eat this past week.  I'd like to give you a daily breakdown of my daily meals to give you a little bit of an idea of the types of yummy foods they have available.

Blueberry Pancakes
Day 1
Breakfast - 4 Pancakes each piled with blueberries, with a turkey sausage with veggies for a side.

Lunch - Szechuan turkey burger on a delicious multi-grain roll, with a carrot beet salad as my side.

Dinner - Turkey Chili with beans

Day 2

Breakfast - Mango Cranberry Muffin

Lunch - Turkey ham salad on a fresh pretzel roll a side of Lentil Chili and String Cheese. Picture on the right

Dinner - Fettuccine with Italian style meatballs in tomato sauce and a side of vegetables.

Day 3
Breakfast - Ratatouille Omelet, with lots of yummy cheese and veggies and a side of Asparagus. pictured to the left

Lunch - Chicken Alfredo Melt in white sauce with a side of vegetables.

Dinner - Penne Pasta flavored with turkey and meat sauce.

Day 4

Breakfast - Noodle Kugel, creamy egg noodles cooked with spices and a side of applesauce and Cranberry juice drink. Picture on right

Lunch - Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich on a soft mulit-grain bun, with side of mandarin oranges.

Dinner - Chicken Parmeasean

Day 5
Breakfast - Fruit Ambrosia, a Kashi granola bar with a fruit mix of mango, pineapple, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries smothered in Ambrosia sauce and yogurt.

Lunch - Deluxe Turkey Sandwich on a soft yummy multi-grain bun

Dinner - Chicken Pizza piled with lots of yummy cheese, sauce and chicken with a side of fresh broccoli. Picture on left

I absolutely loved my meals!  I have to tell ya, I love their breads!!!  I could eat one of their sandwiches on their breads for lunch every day of the week, they are my most favorite!

All the meals are great, but I am a normal person and of course I am going to have a few favorites.  So some of my favorites this week were the Chicken Pizza, Curry Chicken Salad Sandwich (YUM) this was my first time trying Curry.  Yes I know odd, but hey I am a picky eater and always afraid to try new things, but this showed me that I need to be willing to try new things.
Other favorites, Szechuan Turkey Burger, Ratatouille Omelet, Turkey Ham Salad, Blueberry Pancakes.
They also had an extra meal included in mine that was a Strawberry & Peach Fruit and Granola Parfait, again YUMMM!

Doesn't that mulit-grain bread look delicious?

I'd like to mention, most meals are huge and I rarely finished some of them before having to stop because I was full.  I just put the remainder in the fridge for a snack later on.  Seriously love that you can eat healthy foods, and lose weight and at the same time always feel full.  That's to me is what Common Sense Healthy Eating is all about!!!

Speaking of pounds, the Diet-To-Go meals in addition with being able to add new exercise into my life last week helped me shed a little over 4 pounds over the past 7 days.  Now I won't lie, it may not entirely have been the meals alone.  After all I did go from 3 weeks of little to no walking and on crutches only, to this past week, a lot of walking and working to strengthen my ankle injury.  However, that is a lot of weight in one week, so  I completely believe it had a little to do with both the meals and the new exercise!  Either way I am extremely happy with it all!!! YAY!!!

This is a GREAT time to try out these meals.  For my blog readers you can use the coupon below to get an amazing $50 off a week of meals.  Seriously, that is an outstanding offer!!!!!  Take advantage of it, you will love not having to prepare and spend ton's of time cooking.  You can give a week using Diet-To-Go as your own personal chef a try!

My Experience and Results of being on Diet-To-Go Meals

I received an incredible opportunity to try out Diet-To-Go.  So I decided right at the beginning I was going to give the diet 100%.  I weighed in the morning of day 1.  The program did not say I needed to do this, but I wanted too just for my own personal reasons.

This year I have been trying to lose weight, some of my readers may remember reading posts on this.  Well after I lost 16 pounds I sort of hit a plateau and nothing I have been doing has been able to get me past this.
So when I started Diet-To-Go I realized this might be the perfect opportunity and exactly what I needed to mix things up for my body and give the weight loss a try again.
I cut out all soda on my diet (sorry Pepsi).  I pushed myself to drink more water during the week.
Because of my ankle injury, I am limited on exercise I can do right now, so to be honest I wasn't able to exercise at all.

In 5 days I lost 1.8 pounds.  This may not sound like much, but keep in mind this is only in 5 days, and I was at a dead plateau before this!
I know this was from all of the healthy eating on the Diet-To-Go meals! (Because and I'll explain more below, I wasn't eating the smartest before.)
I have to be honest, now that I have finally broken that 16 pounds and I am now so close to 18 pounds of weight loss.  I am super thrilled and really excited to push forward on my weight loss journey again.

So the day I received all my meals, can I just tell you how impressed I was at the packaging and look of the product!  The meals came in 2 containers.  One was for items that didn't need to be kept frozen, and the other was keeping them all frozen.
The food looked delicious, I was excited to begin eating them the next day!

I want to share with you a little on the meals I received and my thoughts on each. (Note: every meal/snack listed below came in my Diet-To-Go meals.  The meals came with cooking instructions as well as details listed on the different separate meals as to what items went with which meals.  So you could be accurate on your daily calorie meal intake.

Day 1
Breakfast - Cranapple Muffin & a fresh Orange.  Pretty good, but wished I had heated the muffin instead of eating straight from the fridge:)  Have to admit, that muffin was quite filling!
Lunch - Chicken Salad Sandwich on a roll, Tomato Mushroom Salad and Fruit - Loved the bread!!!
Dinner - Chicken Fajitas with Refried Beans and Baby Carrots - Loved these, I could seriously eat these weekly.

Also, I want to mention something I realized right after day 1.  I always thought I knew how to eat smart, even if at times I am not the best at it.  But I realized a valuable lesson I have heard many times before, but just didn't let it sink in.  Even when dieting, you can still eat yummy food and feel full.  You just have to pick the correct foods.  Having Diet-To-Go do this for me, made it totally simple!  I can honestly say through the whole time on this, there was only 1 meal that I was still wishing for a little more. (That was breakfast on day 2).

Day 2
Breakfast - Whole Wheat Monte Cristo (French toast with cheese and ham).  Delicious Yogurt Raspberry Drink and Fresh Fruit Mix YUMMMMM - I absolutely loved the drink!
Lunch - Black Bean Soup, Soft Pretzel, Vegetable salad and String Cheese.  I wasn't sure about this before I ate it, but it was a pleasant surprise, black bean soup is delicious!!
Dinner - Turkey Meatloaf & Veggies - This was good!  But I did add ketchup when I ate the meatloaf and should mention that didn't come with the dinner:)

Day 3
Breakfast - Blueberry Muffin with Strawberry Jam spread.  Heated the muffin this time, and oh so soft!
Lunch - Mushroom Soup & Mango Rice - The rice was okay, not really my thing.  But the Mushroom Soup was delicious!
Dinner - Tomato Veggie Pie covered in Parmesan Cheese and Sesame Bread sticks.  This was another one of those meals I wasn't sure what to expect or if I would like it or not. (I am a picky eater:)  But the food surprised me again!

Day 4
Breakfast - Cinnamon Bar - Pretty good and really filling.  I would want to eat this again!
Lunch - Waldorf Chicken Sandwich on a yummy grain and seen roll (love the breads and rolls in their foods!)  Sheffa Zesty Snack Mix, so delicious lots of corn nuts and other seeds and a V8 to drink.  Let me just say, there was so much that came with this sandwich I could only eat half of it.  I just saved the rest for when I needed a snack.
Dinner - Chicken Breast with Creole Sauce, Brown Rice with vegetables smothered in the Creole Sauce.  This was pretty good.  I like the veggies in the sauce, it made them taste less like cooked vegetables:)

Let me say, these meals are calorie counted.  So you can eat the whole thing or not if your full and still stay under within your daily 1,200 or 1,600 calorie diet.  I was so amazed that so much food can be eaten.  Sometimes I finished the meals and sometimes I had leftovers, but always walked away full from every lunch and dinner and almost all breakfasts!  Guess it all comes down to eating the right foods that are healthy for you!  Made me realize I have made mistakes with previous dieting!

Day 5
Breakfast - Eggs Florentine with Spinach, Chicken Sausage & Asparagus.  To be perfectly honest I wasn't exactly sure about eating spinach and asparagus for breakfast.  If I ate this one again I think it would be a little better a bit later in the morning.  But that aside, it was still pretty good!
Lunch - Wahoo Fish Burger and a V8 to drink with a bean salad.  Pretty good, you couldn't really taste the fish (which is good), made this using all the tarter sauce that came with it.  The bun bread was delicious, I love grain breads!!! The bean salad that accompanied the burger was really good.  Definitely one to eat again!  Also on this, there was so much that came with the meal and the burger was so big, I only could down half of it before I was full.
Dinner - Stir Fry Chicken & Veggies - This was pretty good, a perfect way to end my week on Diet-To-Go!

I loved my experience with Diet-To-Go!!!  The only thing I would have done differently is taken my waist measurement before I started.  I feel like my tummy shrunk a little, one tighter blouse I own seemed to fit a bit better today.  But I can't say for sure, because I didn't take my measurements beforehand.

I highly recommend Diet-To-Go for anyone who is either looking for healthy eating options or needs some help to keep their calorie intake controlled so they can begin or continue their own weight loss journey.
