Sometimes Decision Making Can Be the Worst!

Hope everyone had a great past week! I had a great time, super busy but got together with so many different friends and family members throughout the week, it was a lot of fun.

Participating in the 3 blog hops I am hosting this month is seriously taking up a lot of my time. Don't get me wrong I love it. But being the host and participating, equals 1-2 hours of blogging
each day to stay caught up.

(Yes, it's hard to find those hours, which means lots of multi-tasking and late nights.)

But I am enjoying the new friends I am meeting through it, and several others have commented on how much they are enjoying it which makes it all worth it.

One thing I love about the friends I have in my life, sometimes we don't even have to do anything. We can just sit and chat and have more fun discussing random thoughts that pop through our minds. It can go on for hours like that, we have such fun times together.
Do you have friends like that in your life? I hope so!

My sister and I even headed out to a midnight movie showing on Thursday, we haven't done that in years.
We went and saw The Choice, which was a really cute romantic comedy.
Have you seen it?
I think it may go down as my favorite Nicholas Sparks book/movie remake so far.

We each grabbed a large popcorn, so we'd have some for the movie and then the best part, take the rest home and have it for breakfast.  Yes, I know that is not very healthy, but morning after movie popcorn is just the best!

This week, I didn't get much reading in, but in-between projects I did pick up a couple of books. I did read The Revolution of Ivy. It wasn't as good as the first book, but the first book was so good I think I just had my hopes set too high.

I also finished Aprilyn Pikes Earthrise, the final book in the Earthbound series. Loved the series, but something was different about this book and the writing, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Other than I did catch a few editing mistakes, which is uncommon in her books.

The air has finally cleared out here, and it is beautiful outside. I can see my beautiful mountains out all my windows again, YAY
We had several storms move through last week quickly, that pushed all the junk out. Not sure how long it will last, but hopefully we keep getting mini storms to keep it out!

This week I am going to make attempts to get out each morning and get myself back into a normal running routine again and begin the slow build back up in mileage, since running outdoors is pretty much the only way I like to do it!

As for the new career search.
The problem is, I feel like I am 20 again. I seriously can't decide on anything. That and I've been my own boss for so many years that I kinda cringe at having a boss, I know terrible... (Note to self, delete that line before I let any new potential employer see it, LOL)

One day I am thinking okay, maybe I will go this direction. As soon as the idea set's in, I have already talked myself out of it, and I am back to square one.
I am incredibly picky, I want a job I will enjoy that won't feel like work, but pays well.

So at this point, your guess on what I decide is as good as mine, LOL
I've also been dabbling with the idea of looking into affording to go back to school and get another degree in something else???
I'll figure it all out eventually, maybe being picky and waiting is good too, maybe the perfect career just hasn't opened up just yet... We shall see!

Those a few tidbits of my past week.
I am linking up with HoHo Runs and MissSippiPiddlin today for their Weekly Wrap!

So tell me, how has your week gone?
Any fun news to share?

  2. I've really been enjoying participating in the blog hop, thank you for putting it all together! And I absolutely love friends like that where you can just hang out comfortably together and don't really have to be doing anything.

  3. Oh gosh - I hate decision making, especially when it comes to jobs & careers. Its such pressure. But its good to remember NOTHING is permanent :)
I have a friend that when she was pregnant, she'd have her husband stop & get movie popcorn & just bring it home for her to eat at all times :)

  4. What are you looking at doing now for work?

  5. That picture is gorgeous! I'm glad all the crud in the air was blown away. If you have the view, you should enjoy it.

  6. O man I don't envy you one bit. Deciding on a new career is tough. Especially when you've done the same thing for years! Hope you find some direction. Glad to see your air quality has cleared up.

  7. I switched careers 6.5 years ago, after thinking I had my DREAM job. Turns out...nope. Best of luck as you make your decision. One thing that really helped me was a quote from Maya Angelou about choosing "the next thing" vs. "the last thing."

  8. I don't know what to do when I grow up either lol. Seriously, it is hard to know what direction to go. Feeling 20 again is good!
I love that you captured the beautiful colors and a police car lol I bet no one else noticed, I always have a little police love because of my hubs:)

  12. Its true nothing is permenant. But then again I kinda want to take my time to find one that will be. Just so I don't have to do this again in a year when I decide I am bored lol lol

  13. It's nice to go to the movies. I know I used to go all the time, but rarely go much anymore. Sometimes, it's great to enjoy the atmosphere of a movie theater.
I'm with you on being picky about a job. I'm beginning to want to re-search for something, and I have mixed feelings on the whole process. LOL

  18. Major major props to you! I'm only doing one of the hops and it's still taking a lot of time because I try to go to al the blogs that visited me to leave comments there + share their posts, haha. I haven't seen The Choice yet, but I mighttt be off to see Deadpool tomorrow with my brother!

Best of luck to you on your job search! I hope you find something awesome that you enjoy! <3

  19. I think it's great how you keep moving forward, fast forward. Searching for what you want while you remain engaged in all you currently do is the perfect way to go about it. YES, glad you asked. I do indeed have exiting news to share! My 3rd grandchild was born on Friday. This was the first for my youngest daughter and son-in-law and they are doing wonderfully, happy and healthy. Have a wonderful week Kristy and thanks again for all you do to help us bloggers get the most out of what we do!

  20. Movie theatre popcorn is deadly. In Canada we use fresh butter only which makes it soooo much better, whenever I travel to the states they only have the fake crap.

Reading your about me, I am totally jealous of your career/careers. Event planning is my dream... working for myself ugh I can't even! I'm basically that 20 year old you described who is still deciding where to go in life. So thanks for this post it resonated really well with me.

  21. Since I moved from Seattle to NJ and now CA, it's hard to find friends like that now, but I do miss my friends in Seattle where we can have those fun conversations that can go for hours! I'm glad that the inversion has cleared and you can see the mountains! They look beautiful! Have a great week!

  22. I hope your path becomes clear for you. And thank you for hosting these hops, I have had so much fun and feel like I've "met my blogging peeps."

  23. My career was chosen for me by the Air Force, 25 years ago...I'm still on the "search" for my calling. Best of luck to you!!!!

  24. Good luck with choosing a new career/job. Will you be considering a move while searching for new employment? I love your story about buying a large popcorn at the movie theater and saving some for breakfast. You learn something new every day and maybe it is time for me to try stale popcorn!

You do have some decisions to make, I'm with you it is so important to find something you enjoy so it is not like a job at all! It makes it worth getting up for! I'm so glad you are back to running even if it's a little bit, I can't imagine how you feel about it! Thanks lady for linking up with us, I'm so enjoying all the new blogs I'm reading and there are some really good ones too!

  26. congrats on getting outside even if it is just a little bit! Career decisions are tough! I would like to make a career change as well but can't decide what that should look like- I will be patient, it will come to me :) Have a great week!

  28. I heart popcorn and could eat it every day. Especially with salt, pepper and a sprinkle of Parmesan!

I think it's exciting to think about a career change! And the best thing is that you're young enough that you can still do whatever you want. Take time to think it through and eventually it will come to you :)

  29. I didn't know their was a new Nicholas Sparks movie! He is my favorite, I can't wait to see it. Good luck with the career change. I know it's not easy working for someone, when you've been on your own for so long. I'm praying you find the perfect job for you!

  30. I had to Google The Choice because I think I've read most of Nicholas Sparks books. I did read that one and it is pretty old! Changing careers is difficult. It's important to take you time and find something you are passionate about. I hope your return to a regular running routine goes well. Just remember, it will take time. Thanks for linking with us Kristy.

  31. I love movie popcorn! Which reminds me - it's been WAY too long since I've had some. I haven't read the Choice (and honestly haven't heard of the movie) but I'm heading over to look it up ASAP! I've been through the same decision making process you're going through now and I have to tell you that being self-employed won out every single time when I really started comparing the two! Let me know if you need an ear! I'm happy to listen! XOXO

  32. Ya, I wondered if the cop thought I was taking a picture of him LOL I am a fan of the police too, I am upset with the way they are being treated right now.

  33. Sometimes it is, I don't get out to them all that much either. But a few weeks ago I took myself to one, then the other day with my sis, that's probably a record amount because some years I may only get to one a few times a year, LOL

Good luck as you re-search for yourself. I hear ya completely on the mixed feelings, I wish I could just keep doing what I am doing because I love it. But realistically with a some back problems I have, it's not possible and onto the searching, oh the joy, LOL

  34. Hey your playing by the rules (which is awesome) so I hear ya, it takes a ton of time to visit all the blogs who stop by and comment. It's a lot of fun too, but right now with 3 hops slightly overwhelming in a fun way!
How was Deadpool? I have heard mixed reviews on it.
Thanks, I have no idea where the job search will take me, I guess that is the unexpected fun of it too, LOL

  35. Congratulations, 3rd grandchild that is awesome!!! Glad mom and baby are doing good. I hope you live close and can visit, or at least take a trip to see the cute new baby!!!
    Have a wonderful week too!

  36. Oh my gosh if we used fresh butter here that would be so much better.
Darn, but it's probably glad we don't. I might be way too tempted to eat it more often, LOL
Event planning is such an awesome job, I love it. If you ever get the change to make it work for you, I think you'll love it! It's high stress but highly rewarding and never a dull moment, LOL

  37. Hey at least your closer to your Seattle friends now than you were in NJ. Maybe sometime you guys can all take a drive and meet up somewhere along the west coast:)

  38. Thanks, me too!
Love that your enjoying the hop and meeting new friends, makes it totally worth it when I hear comments like this, thanks for joining us!

  39. I bet you've done some amazing things because of your career choice. I remember reading about that on your blog the other day. Your an amazing gal!

  40. No, I want to stay in Utah all my family is here and truthfully I could never leave my mountains, life wouldn't be as fun:)
LOL, oddly morning after popcorn isn't stale at all. Instead it takes the night for the oils to seep into the popcorn deeper and oh it's just yummy. Of course probably not the healthiest, but I guess it's fiber, right LOL LOL Good thing it's a once in a great while treat, not an often one!

  41. I am glad to be back to start running again, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I have mixed feelings. While I love it, I am also struggling being inactive for so long it's a killer to want to wake up earlier to head out the door. I just keep telling myself after a few weeks it will start to feel good again, LOL maybe:)

  42. I've been living it up outside, it's even starting to warm a little later in the days, it was 50 degrees yesterday and I totally sat out in a t-shirt soaking in a few rays pretending spring is really on the way, LOL LOL
I am right there with ya on no idea what to do career change wise. Good luck as your making your decisions too!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. yes, cheers to us!
Last week I was on the treadmill and I totally forgot how a mile on the treadmill is nothing, when I got outside and tried it oh ya I felt it a lot more. Long way to go, but I will enjoy the journey!

  44. LOL I think I could eat popcorn each day too, but good thing I don't LOL
Parmeasan on popcorn, that sounds great, dang it now I want to try that:)
Thanks, I hope so, I have no idea what direction to go in.

  45. It's cute, I think you'd like The Choice, it was much funnier than I thought my sister and I were laughing out loud quite a bit. It's fun!
Oh you nailed it right there, I just don't look forward to changing and working for someone else, I love being my own boss. If I could figure out a way to make it work I wouldn't change, but I've looked at it from every angle and it's just something I need to do.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It was a good movie, I hadn't read the book. But my sister and I were laughing quite a bit during it it was fun.
I hear ya, I am taking my time. My goal was to find one within a month, but that doesn't seem to be happening. Eventually the right thing will pop into my mind!

  47. Oh it's such a cute movie, lots of fun I highly recommend it!
I've been self employed as a wedding planner for so many years, I love it. I am not letting it go, but right now it needs to turn into a part time thing. If I could think of something else to try on my own I totally would and I am trying to think. This was just all thrown on me when I found out I needed to make adjustments for my back, now I just want to make sure I make the right decisions.
I may take you up on that ear sometime! Thanks Rachel!

  48. I do work my dream job. I just had a diagnosis with some back issues that are forcing me to make some changes, I'm not letting go of my dream job I will still run my wedding decoration company on a part time basis. But the new full time gig, that is stil TBD... LOL
Love that quote, I haven't heard it before. But I like that, the next thing, not the last thing... Thanks for sharing that with me!!!!

  49. Mixed!? :O Deadpool was awesome! I've actually only heard good things so far, haha. (Although I heard people who brought their kids to it complained...but what the hell were they thinking? ._.) It was hilarious, although definitely lots of vulgar/crude jokes, so if you're not into that, then probably not the best choice!

  50. I've read most of Nicholas Spark's book. I want to see The Choice, but I will probably have to wait til it comes out to Redbox. I don't go to the movies as often as I used to, but I do love that popcorn. I'm almost 30 and still trying to decide what I want to do when I grow up. Haha! While I love my students, I don't know if I'll survive 25 + years in the teaching field at this rate. I've contemplated getting my master's degree in something else, but I haven't settled on anything just yet. Good luck figuring out new career options. Being happy in your career is extremely important.

  51. I love me some theater popcorn! The career stuff is such a tough thing. I decided to go back for a business degree last year. It was a tough choice but it just was the right thing. Good luck on whatever path you choose. I went through a binge where I read every Sparks book out. I haven't read anything in years but The Wedding is my favorite book and I must admit I still love the Notebook both book and movie.
