Getting My Criminal On and Traveling

I've been a little MIA on update posts for the past few weeks, but I had a few good reasons!
One of them being I had Midterms and had to get the studying done to do well on the tests. If anyone is wondering, I got my grades over the weekend and I have A's in all of my classes except one I have a B+. I am going to work on that though, and get it up!

So what have you missed? Besides loads of studying and reports that would bore you to sleep if I talked about them anymore. (So I won't.)

I discovered I get easily distracted these days, and focus on what I am doing too much at times. I found this out the hard way while I was staring down at my digital design project while walking through the quiet computer lab, and then walked right into the glass window next to the door..
Loud bang, LOL
I didn't turn around to see how many saw me, I just laughed out loud and found the door, LOL I mean what else could I do, right...

RUNNING UPDATE
I have been enjoying the trails and exploring while out running. I'm starting to feel stronger and stronger and my knee that I tore the cartilage in a couple of months ago while moving rarely bothers me much when I run. Though I hate to admit, I didn't keep my consistency up on the weekends I traveled.

TRAVELING
I took a couple of weekend trips. Two weeks ago I took the 5-hour drive up north to see one of my cute nieces to get baptized. It was a bit of a rushed trip.

Then after midterms, I had fall break so I took the long drive again and was able to spend 4 days hanging out with my family and a few of my friends.

One one note, I have gotten a lot of singing at the top of my lungs time in, I mean what else was I going to do with over 20 hours of driving over the past few weeks, LOL
I even broke out some of my old school tunes, since you know no one to embarrass myself in front of:)

Speaking of being up north. I hung out with my sisters and one left us alone in her house while she left. (She ditched us, LOL)

Well she has this locked room, it was the kids toy room. It had one of those outdoor locks on it, and back in the summer (July) my nephew locked it and they haven't been able to get into it since then.
That just felt like a "I must accomplish this feat."

My sister who lives there tried drilling out the lock, no luck.
A hammer was taken to the handle, no luck.

So my one sister and I got our criminal on and went on You Tube and just over a minute later of a video, I learned how to pick a lock.

Let me just say, yes it is both easy and difficult. But once I caught on to where the two bobby pins needed to go, and how to work them. I was in, within minutes!

So AWESOME! But now that I know how easy it is to break into someones house and locked doors, I am a little more concerned about my own locks at my place, LOL
Definitely going to buy one of those door stopper things now that they show on infomercials that make it so the door can't be pushed in. Seriously, I think I am great for learning to pick locks, but if I can do it, so can anyone and that's a bit scary!

One of my drives, I stopped to do a little hiking in Kolob Canyon, this is on the North West side of Zion National Park. I heard the fall leaves were in bloom and they sure were, it was beautiful. I even got out and did a short hike, before getting back in the car to drive another 4 hours!

The Grow Your Blog Hop(s) starts this week, and many who used to know I was a more frequent blogger may be wondering how I am going to pull this off.

Truth is, I wondered too! Kidding...

But I had promised many I would hold it, and I really do enjoy hosting them. So I slacked a little this past month on a few posts, and instead got ready for the hop.

While it will be a little difficult on days I have big assignments and no time, I know I can get it done and pull it off. But most importantly it's going to be fun!

I've made some adjustments requiring 50% less time commitment and less participants than in the past. We'll see how the participants like that!
I purposely made it for after my Midterms were over so I wouldn't have that part to worry about!

Hope everyone has been doing great! With all the busy studies and traveling I haven't been able to get around much on the blogs much so I am looking forward to catching up with you all!

For those who may be visiting my blog for the first time through the hop, welcome! I am looking forward to getting to know you all better!

  2. I hadn't even thought youtube had tutorials like that! Glad you were able to get the lock open, but yeah, I'd get something extra for security.

  6. Look at you starting your career as a burglar ;)
Sorry - I had to laugh - I've seen too many videos of people walking into glass doors/walls & I laugh EVERY TIME. Even reading about it.

  8. Glad school is going well. Yea, that's super scary to know how easy it is to pick a lock. I guess that's why everyone should have a dead bolt, right?

  9. Thanks Kristy for hosting the blog hop. It's been just a day and I have already loved reading all the varied posts on the Hop! Can't wait to see what the next 2 weeks bring. Those are such beautiful shots! I grew up in the middle east... so dead barren mountain is a beauty in my eyes! :)

  11. Thanks for organizing the blog hop! And I love the fall colors in your photos... we don't get leaves like that here in Chicago! Picking a lock, skill to go on my "to learn list" this fall!

  12. I LOVE all the fall pics! That is one thing I do miss about living in Texas. We don't really have a true fall here. It was even 100 degrees today.
I am excited about participating in the Blog Hop again! Thank you again so much for taking time to organize it :)

  15. Thanks Chaitali!
Yes, I am glad the knee rarely bothers me to run. Now if I could just get it to rarely bother me climbing stairs or the rest of my daily life, LOL I am starting to think I'm going to have to break down and get another cortizone shot just to cushion the tear for good for a while.

  16. I know what you mean, sometimes blogging time does get limited. I myself have found a lot of that lately.
This hop I knew I wasn't going to have as much time so I decided to try something new and this one is pretty mush 50% less time consuming than ones I have done in the past for each participant. Depending on what others think, I might run ones like this again if they like the less commitment. I think it may help many who are like you with limited time but still want to participate:)

  17. Thanks! Well the kids thought so, LOL
My sister and I just decided we achieved pure awesomeness for getting into it, haha.

  18. Hey, I am all about new careers, LOL
It's okay, you can laugh I laughed at myself. I can't believe I did it, I have no idea how many people saw, there are nearly 100 computers in the open room, can't remember how many were occupied< LOL Oh well I gave them a laugh for the day too:)

  20. The crazy thing is, the same concept I learned can be used on a deadbolt as well. Who knew it was so easy, LOL

  21. I'm really glad your already enjoying it! If you like it so far, I think you'll love when it gets in full swing in a few days.
The Middle east, yes you probably do have a lot of barren mountains. I live in the desert, and my home looks out over some very barren plateaus, so I kinda know what you mean.

  22. Thanks!
I'm glad your with us, and enjoy it!!!

  23. I do hope you can learn the lock picking skill, seriously it's so much easier than you'd think. Which is kinda scary when you think about that, LOL

  24. I live in the desert, but you guys sound like you have it hotter. We've been having 90's, but that is our fall, LOL I think we are done with the triple digits, hope you guys can get some cooling off soon too!
I had to drive a bit to get to those fall leaves, I don't have any by me, palm tree's don't change colors, LOL
Glad your participating, thanks for joining up with us!

  26. Ew for midterms, but hooray for you doing so well! :D Congrats!! I've totally walked into doors before, so I feel your pain/can relate. ;_;

My friend got locked out of her house once when we were little (we used to walk home from school together all through elementary school to high school) and I broke into her house for her, hahaha. #thuglife

    I neeeeeeeed to go to Zion National Park sometime. ;_;

  27. It is amazing what you can find on YouTube! I have gotten better at going there to see if someone as made a video of what I am trying to do but it isn't my natural first instinct. Thank you for organizing the hop! I love your blog hops!
