Hollow City by Ransom Riggs - A book review

I loved Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, and have waited a few years for this sequel.  In fact I waited so long, I wasn't sure if there was ever going to be a sequel.  If you haven't read the first book, I highly recommend it before reading the rest of this review.  Although this review will not spoil the ending and secret's and twists that take place in Hollow City, it may spoil the ending in the first book of the series.
(If you are unfamiliar with this series, and you'd like to read my review on the first book, you can visit HERE.)

This is one of those authors who does something unique, as we learned in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children.  An adult book with haunting true non altered images that are weaved into the story, and give us a visual of what we are reading.
Ransom Rigg's does it again in Hollow City, lots of interesting photographs that he used to tell part two of Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children.

Hollow City picks up right where we left off.  The Peculiar children have just rescued Miss Peregrine who has been trapped in the body of a bird.  They are off on a journey to London to find a cure for their headmistress, Miss Peregrine.  They are in the loop of 1940, which happens to be right in the heart of the war.

Jacob has taken it upon himself to get himself and all of the children to safety.  However, sooner than they can get the shores of their new spectacular journey they find themselves in danger.  Every turn they make, it seems like more dangers follow or are happened upon.

The children discover that they must work together and use their Peculiar gifts to help insure their safety and get them between each of their destinations.  Not only do we get to see many of their talents in full bloom. But we also are introduced to new Peculiar's they are meeting along the way.  We are also about to learn Jacob's true feelings for Emma as hers for Jacob.

If you loved The New York Times Bestseller, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, and you enjoyed the fantastic imagination of Ransom Riggs.  You will also enjoy the adventures in Hollow City.  The different loops they adventure too, new Peculiar's with powerful talents in telepathy, shape shifting, freezing, and death defying, not to mention a few new bizarre new creatures.  Again the readers get to experience  the never-before-published vintage photography that bring the story to live and fill any voids in your imagination as you follow the story in this fantasy world.
I highly recommend this book, when you are in the mood for something different and unusual.  This series is that, different.  But in a very surprisingly great way!!!
